Hotel Minca - La Casona is a charming little spot nestled in the heart of Minca, just a short scenic drive from Santa Marta and an ideal launching pad for exploration. The hotel boasts an inviting terrace restaurant with stunning views, perfect for enjoying a meal while watching the hummingbirds flit about – a moment that made my quiet mornings particularly enriching. While the vibe was laid-back and relaxing, and the staff friendly and eager to assist, I did find the outdoor pool and garden somewhat underwhelming. It felt like they needed a good sprucing up to match the great marketing photos I had seen. Still, who needs a flashy pool when the beautiful river is just a stone's throw away for a refreshing dip? On the upside, I appreciated the private bathroom in my room, which had all the essentials, including hot water and a decent fan for those balmy evenings. A clean room is non-negotiable for a historian like myself, and it certainly offered a cozy escape after a day of hiking and soaking in Minca's natural beauty.
